Vágar houses the Faroe Islands' only airport that was built by the British during World War II. The island's six inhabited settlements are Sandavágur, Miðvágur, Vatnsoyrar, Sørvágur, Bøur, and Gásadalur. 3,271 inhabitants live here on 176 km²
